Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan David didn’t know he could sing until high school when he decided to try out for a musical freshman year because he didn’t want to be bored in the winter. He was invited to join the South Christian High School freshman choir and from there enjoyed four years of high school choirs from men’s choir to campus choir and madrigals under the direction of Doug Rosema. When David went to Calvin College he participated in the Oratorio society under Dr. Joel Navarro and then took a few years hiatus from any music at all. David then returned to music doing a semester under Dr. Joel Navarro in Campus choir and Spending his final year in Capella under Dr. Pearl Shangkuan. He hasn’t stopped since then, joining the Calvin College Alumni Choir after graduating and now finding a new home with The Choral Scholars.
